Harrod Built is a family custom home builder led by brothers Michael and Chris Harrod. Our projects around Paso Robles and Templeton deal with the same rural realities as the valley: septic, wells, oak trees, hot summers and long views.

If you’re picturing a single-story ranch-style home, our Modern Ranch in Templeton is a good reference: about 4,200 square feet of living space, a pool and spa, deep covered patios, and a detached garage with an RV bay.

Rural parcels

Parcels are larger and more rural, and the questions shift to wells, septic, long driveways and utility runs. They shape where the house can sit, so we look at them first.

The whole property

Many owners want a guest house or ADU, a barn, or a pool and outdoor kitchen too, so we plan the whole property as one priced, scheduled project.

Permits and review

County parcels around Santa Ynez, Los Olivos and Ballard go through Santa Barbara County planning and design review. Solvang has its own city design review.

Fire safety
